That is what you can call me for now: "Madam Porcupine" for tomorrow I embark on a course of acupuncture. Why? Because in my stroke recovery journey I am up to trying anything that might help while still adhering to the "do no harm" course of therapy.
I have two problems that I hope a course of acupuncture might help:
- Continued partial paralysis of the left leg and
- Lymphedema of the left leg that causes so much foot swelling that I can no longer fasten the velcro straps on my left shoe.
So, I will venture into the land of alternative medicine to seek help.
My occupational therapist is becoming certified as a lymph edema specialist and she tells me that lymph edema in "stroke-side" leg is not that uncommon in stroke survivors.
