People write memoirs about all sorts of things. Now, I am thinking about writing one about my stroke and ongoing recovery process.
People write and read memoirs for a variety of reasons, the most valid of which, in my opinion, is to learn and heal. In the best of all worlds, writing or reading a memoir contributes to both learning and healing for writer and reader.
For the writer, the process of writing a memoir helps sort things out and make sense of what happened.
The reader benefits, too, identifying with the author, far away at a safe distance.
So more later. I have to go think now. Meanwhile, suggested book titles welcomed. Just enter them in the comments section at the end of this post.
