For the most part, I do try to stay as positive as possible. (Click here to see a previous post about this.)
Goodness knows staying positive is in itself a challenge these days. Half of me still does not work so well. This means everything, everything is a challenge. Nothing is easy.
With all this in mind, I set off to therapy sessions at St. Downtown a few days ago.
Good news. I got to work with a therapist I had not worked with for quite awhile. Bad news. Right off the bat, he said something that hurt my feelings. In fairness, this therapist is kind for the most part, while I am far too sensitive.
The rest of the day was marked by emotional potholes. By the time I got to bed, I was quite down, even a little weepy. Sometimes there is just nothing for it but to feel somewhat sorry for yourself.
In the middle of this emotional swirl, Wisdom Voice showed up and asked, "Do you want to cry or do you want to walk?"
That did it. Even in the dark shadows of the mine field of desperation, priority setting can shed light on life's journey and save the day.
